Power of the people, by the people, for the people.

When 3.11 East Japan Great Earthquake happened there was blackouts and lack of gasolines  and it made us realize that we used to think energy is something always available. Machida Power Station acts as what we can rooted in our neighborhood.


Machida Power Station is a group that activates creative platform based in Machida city, Tokyo. One of the members Osamu Kiyohara lives in Machida city and graduated from Musashino Art University(Architecture). In 2010 he produced an exhibition; I Love You, I Hate You by an Art unit Midori Ikeda, a photography exhibition depicting small factories in Itabashi ward, and organized Photo and Senryu Workshop. Both vitalizing community through art. Since 3.11 East Japan Great Earthquake, Kiyohara is one of the founding members of Empowering from Machida Project that is a collaboration among communities and a relief effort for Rikuzentakada city in Tohoku region.
